Copyright Policy
Platform: eBodhya Studio (studio.ebodhya.in) Effective Date: 15 July 2026 Version: 1.0 Document Owner: Anomaa Studio Legal & Compliance
1. Introduction
This Copyright Policy explains how copyright works in relation to Content on eBodhya Studio: what you must respect when uploading Source Material, what license you grant us, and how India's fair-dealing exception for educational use applies. It binds every User who uploads or creates Content on the Platform and works alongside our Copyright Takedown Policy, which handles infringement complaints.
2. Definitions
- "Anomaa Studio," "we," "us," "our" — has the meaning given in the Legal Entity section of this document.
- "the Platform" — the specific eBodhya Platform to which this document applies, as identified in the Legal Entity section.
- "User" / "you" — any individual or entity that accesses or uses the Platform.
- "Content" — any text, image, video, audio, document, dataset, question, worksheet, presentation, lesson plan, assessment, or other work made available on or through the Platform.
- "User Content" — Content that a User uploads, submits, creates, or generates through the Platform.
- "Fair Dealing" — the exception under Section 52 of the Copyright Act, 1957, permitting limited use of copyrighted work for purposes including private study, research, criticism, review, and certain educational uses, without the copyright owner's permission.
3. Applicability
This Policy applies to all Source Material and Content uploaded, created, or generated by any Creator, Institution Account, or Publisher Account on the Platform.
4. Legal Entity
eBodhya™ is a trademark owned and used by Anomaa Studio, a sole proprietorship business based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India ("Anomaa Studio," "eBodhya," "we," "us," or "our"). Anomaa Studio owns and operates the entire eBodhya suite of platforms, comprising:
- eBodhya Studio — studio.ebodhya.in
- eBodhya Marketplace — marketplace.ebodhya.in
- eBodhya Schools — schools.ebodhya.in
- eBodhya Workspace — workspace.ebodhya.in
(together, the "eBodhya Platforms").
Every account, subscription, order, listing, or agreement created or entered into through any eBodhya Platform is an agreement with Anomaa Studio directly. No eBodhya Platform is owned, operated by, or offered on behalf of any third party, franchisee, reseller, school district, or unrelated entity, unless we state so expressly and in writing. eBodhya™ and the eBodhya logo are trademarks of Anomaa Studio; no license to use them is granted except as expressly permitted in writing.
In this document, "the Platform" means eBodhya Studio (studio.ebodhya.in) specifically, and "eBodhya" or the "eBodhya Platforms" means the wider suite of products described above.
5. Respecting Third-Party Copyright
When you upload Source Material — a textbook chapter, an image, a video clip, or any other third-party work — you must have the legal right to use it for the purpose you intend, whether because you own it, hold a license, or the use falls within Fair Dealing as described in Section 7. You must not upload material you know or reasonably should know infringes another party's copyright.
6. License Granted to Anomaa Studio
By uploading or creating Content on the Platform, you grant Anomaa Studio the license described in Section 8 of our Terms of Service — a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, reproduce, and display that Content solely to operate the Services for you, and, only if you choose Marketplace Publishing, to make it available on eBodhya Marketplace under the terms of our Marketplace Publishing Policy. This license does not transfer ownership of your Content to us.
7. Fair Dealing for Educational Use, and Its Limits
Section 52 of the Copyright Act, 1957 permits certain uses of copyrighted work without the owner's permission, including reproduction by a teacher or student in the course of instruction, and use in an examination or answer to an examination question. This exception is narrow: it does not permit uploading or distributing whole works (such as a complete textbook or a full-length film) where a smaller excerpt would serve the educational purpose, and it does not extend to commercial exploitation of the copied material, including publishing it for sale via Marketplace Publishing without independent rights or a proper license. If you are unsure whether your intended use of third-party material falls within Fair Dealing, seek independent legal advice or use only material you own or have licensed.
8. Relationship to the Takedown Policy
If you believe Content on the Platform infringes your copyright, or if a rights holder notifies us of alleged infringement in your Content, the notice-and-takedown procedure, counter-notice process, and repeat-infringer policy are set out in our Copyright Takedown Policy.
9. Privacy
Personal Data included in a copyright notice or counter-notice is handled per our Privacy Policy.

17. Intellectual Property
This Policy addresses copyright specifically; the broader ownership map for Platform IP, User Content, and AI Output is in our Intellectual Property Policy.
18. User Responsibilities
You must ensure you have the rights to any Source Material you upload, keep records of licenses or permissions where relevant, and respond promptly and honestly if we contact you about a copyright complaint concerning your Content.
19. Prohibited Activities
You must not upload Content you know infringes a third party's copyright, misrepresent the rights status of Source Material, or use Fair Dealing as a pretext to publish substantial copies of third-party work for commercial gain.
20. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Applicable Law, Anomaa Studio's liability arising out of this Policy is limited as described in the Terms of Service. You are solely responsible for infringement liability arising from Content you upload. Nothing in this Policy limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or statutory rights that cannot be waived.
21. Disclaimer
We do not independently verify the copyright status of every item of User Content before it is processed by AI Assistants or shared in a Collaboration workspace; our takedown process in Section 8 addresses infringement after notice.
22. Termination
Repeat copyright infringement may result in Account suspension or termination under the repeat-infringer policy in our Copyright Takedown Policy.
23. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
This Copyright Policy and any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to it, the Platform, or the Services (a "Dispute") is governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
The parties will first attempt in good faith to resolve any Dispute through informal negotiation for thirty (30) days after one party gives the other written notice of the Dispute. If the Dispute is not resolved within that period, it will be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration in Bengaluru, Karnataka, under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, before a sole arbitrator appointed by Anomaa Studio. The arbitration will be conducted in English, and the seat and venue of arbitration will be Bengaluru, Karnataka. The award of the arbitrator will be final and binding on the parties.
Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive or equitable relief before a competent court at any time. Subject to the arbitration agreement above, the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any Dispute not subject to arbitration and over any proceeding to enforce an arbitral award.
24. Jurisdiction
Without prejudice to the arbitration agreement above, the Platform is directed at Users in India, and Anomaa Studio makes no representation that the Platform or its Content is appropriate or lawfully available in other locations. Users who access the Platform from outside India do so on their own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local law.
25. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Copyright Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Services, Applicable Law, or our practices, and will post the revised version on the Platform with an updated "Effective Date."
